About FMA

The Future Marketers Association (FMA) is a formally structured student association in the University of Kelaniya attached to the Department of Marketing Management nourished with a commendable history of 10 solid years.

This was formed with the intention of nurturing innovative, self-driven individuals and introducing them to the realities and challenges of the dynamic business environment.

 

 Why FMA?

A well-known fact that had been a major issue and which had always been ignored was professionally confronted with the formation of the FMA, associated with the DOMM of UOK. That fact is no other but having a wider gap between the Education system and the expectations of the industry when it comes to employing graduates.   

With the formation of FMA, marketing undergraduates were technically repositioned in a professional body as amateur executives performing corporate activities under various commercial avenues.

This concept paved the path to instate stronger professional linkages with major employer brands in the country as well as the support & endorsement of business icons that ultimately up lifted the recognition of DOMM of UOK as a credible source of competent & potential candidates for the corporate world.

Significant events organized under the FMA, namely Stylish Marketer- The Annual Fashion show, is known to be one of the biggest, million rupee budget event in the Local university calendar & noticeably the biggest event in the UOK event lineup that has focused on both improving students’ organizing & communication skills like project management, budget handling & strategic decision making which ultimately drive its purpose to the level of drawing the attention of corporate sector personalities to develop relationships with the DOMM to benefit its undergraduates in the competitive employee market.

Significant uniqueness of FMA

Unlike other student driven associations, the FMA is extremely concerned with its purpose of embedding industrial exposure in to its associated academic learning activities.

All the activities performed under each avenue of FMA is highly determined to bring in experiential knowledge & results that drive students towards professional enrichment while uplifting its standard as a commercial association.
